St. Ives Shanty Shout

20th & 21st November 2026

If you’re staying with us in St Ives and love a bit of rousing sea-song atmosphere, the St Ives Shanty Shout is an event to look out for. Full of character, community spirit and plenty of foot-stomping tunes, it’s become a firm favourite in the town’s calendar.

St Ives Shanty Shout began back in 2016 when members of Bamaluz Bootleggers invited a few friends to join them for a singalong and to raise money for a good cause. What started as a simple gathering of sea shanty enthusiasts quickly struck a chord. Although the original group no longer sing together and venues have changed over the years, the heart of the event has remained the same – bringing people together through music while supporting the local community.

Today, the Shanty Shout is organised in collaboration with the Edward Hain Centre (Charity Number: 1200936), which supports health and wellbeing in St Ives. The partnership ensures that the event continues to raise valuable funds while keeping traditions alive in a fun and welcoming way.

Over the course of the event, you can enjoy a variety of talented shanty groups and performers singing in different venues around town, creating a lively, festival-style atmosphere. The best part for our guests is that the acts and venues are all within easy walking distance of Cornerways, so you can wander from one performance to another and soak up the music without needing the car.

It’s a brilliant way to experience the maritime heritage of St Ives, enjoy some fantastic live music, and be part of the warm, welcoming community spirit that makes this seaside town so special
